The quote in the image above refers to what he said on the Jimmy Kimmel talk show.

He’s American. I’m not, so I don’t know the history of what he’s referring to when he mentioned women, black guys and interracial relationships in that quote. But I guess he’s straight, and for straight people to support the right of marriage for gay people who want to get married, that’s always really sweet.

Aziz Ansari is a 29-year-old actor, writer, and stand-up comedian. He grew up in South Carolina which is where he was born, to a Muslim family from Tamil Nadu in southern India. According to a New York Times article, Aziz has described himself as an atheist. He began his career performing standup comedy in New York City in 2001 while attending New York University. Currently he is one of the main cast members of the comedy TV show Parks and Recreation.

While I was reading up various sources about him, some of the things that caught my eye about the interesting things Aziz had done include hosting the 2010 MTV Movie awards, and in 2011 he made a cameo appearance in a music video for the song ‘Otis’ by Jay-Z and Kanye West. And in 2009, he was featured as one of People’s magazine ‘Sexiest Men Alive’ for that year LOL. I’m not laughing at him being selected, I’m laughing at that ‘Sexiest Men Alive’ thing that magazine has.

Here’s a video of that talk show. The gay marriage bit started from a mention of Chick-fil-A, at around the 1:25 mark. It’s really funny. And ugh, I don’t care for Long John Silver, either. LOL

  1. well, in the US, not until in the 30s that women finally can vote, they also used to not allow interracial couple to marry. These are the same people who opposed gay marriage, which are the conservatives republican :)

  2. Aziz Ansari is hilarious. Saw him live a few years ago. Watch Parks and Recreation if you can, he’s one of the cast.

Yes, he’s straight and he grew up in the south, where at times it can be tricky to be brown. He has a few really funny jokes about it.

So that’s part of the thing about him dating white chicks. He’s telling the country (that did not allow interracial couples to marry until 1967 and every once in a while some redneck community in the sticks still has to be reminded by the government that it’s illegal to prevent them from doing so) to get the hell over themselves.

It’s been a big point in the struggle for gay rights. Once upon a time we didn’t allow women to vote. Once upon a time we didn’t let people of different color marry. Once upon a time we made brown people drink from different water fountains and go to different schools. We recognize this is all wrong, so why is it such a struggle to acknowlege that denying gay citizens the right to marry, inherit property, adopt, see each other in the hospital on the death bed is wrong as well?

So yeah, that’s it pretty much. Hooray for Aziz getting laid!

    • I caught some videos of Aziz’s stuff on YouTube, and yes he’s really good :-)

Me and the partner, we have discussed it before and to be honest, we had said to each other we’re not interested to be married even if we’re in a country that allows it. However we believe that other gay couples who wish to marry should be legally allowed to do so.

But to be honest I’ve changed my mind. Maybe it’s because we’re much older now. We’ve been together almost 20 years. I’ll be forty next year and he’s in his sixties. It’s not the inheritance thing since there’s nothing to leave anyway hahaha… But the thought of not having control of decisions when it comes to the hospitalisation and death of either one of us, or being limited when it comes to visits and other rights, that’s just plain scary. Actually it’s a reality.

So yeah, I would ask him to marry me if it’s allowed here, just to feel more secure. Fat chance of that happening, but just my thought that yes I would marry him.

  3. I listened to a radio interview with this guy. He is really smart. He was talking about all the buzz he got for this and how he stands for equality and non-bigotry. He’s hilarious too…Great post.
